Bob Baker
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Bob Baker, on March 17th ‘2024, at the youthful age of 81.
Beloved companion of 27 years to Nancy. Loving father to Stacy, supportive father-in-law to Mark, and the coolest “Pop Pop” to Dylan and Riley. Big brother to Lorraine, Barb (Rick), Ian (Michele), Alexis (Dick), Arlene (Norm) and Kim (Genie). Wonderful uncle to many nieces and nephews, who loved him so.
In his early years, Bob was a caring and protective big brother, who enjoyed time with his family, joining in a sing along or two, and always wanting to be involved in cooking the turkey for Christmas dinner, or his famous Kraft Dinner and raw egg meals.
As he aged, some of his fondest memories were made at the cottage in Noyan with the Fitzpatrick family, where he shared friendships and memories to last a lifetime.
Later, he shared a tight bond with the Mignacca family, where he was considered a big pillar of support and strength to Nancy, John and Evelyn.
In later years, Bob was happiest when hanging out with his boys, at one of the local pubs, either playing darts, watching football , soccer, or dancing to the tunes of the Black Cadillacs. There was never a Remembrance Day ceremony missed, as he would take the day off to be present every year. During Covid, we wanted him to be careful, but he was adamant that he refused to live the last years of his in hiding and exclaimed with a laugh, “if it’s my time to go, I want to go out having fun!”
Bob was a wonderful father to Stacy, always ready to listen, supportive, funny and gave the best “Dad” hugs, which usually ended up in rough- housing.  He loved to tease Mark,  but would show his love by coming to watch baseball games, send daily email jokes and listening when needed.  As a grandfather, he excelled at sloppy kisses which would make the boys squeal when they were young, and as they grew, he kept them on their toes with his crazy ways, humour, and unconditional love for them. He always showed up, whether it be on the weekend, a weeknight or to one of their games. His presence was strong and always felt.
Anyone who got the chance to spend time with Bob was drawn in to his exuberance for life and would agree that he just had a way about him. He loved big, was easy to smile, quick to laugh and somehow got away with saying or doing the craziest things.
There is so much we will miss about him, but his memory and legacy will live on through the many lives he has touched, those he laughed with and those he loved.  He will never be forgotten.
A celebration of life will be held at Kelly’s Ye Olde Orchard Pub, on Saturday April 13th’ 2024 from 12:00pm- 5:00pm. Please come by to share your memories, have a laugh, and raise a pint in Bob’s name.
