It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Estella Justina Ferguson on September 11 at the age of 95. Estella is survived by her daughter, Denise Ferguson, son-in-law, Michael Nicholson and grandchildren, Aryanna and Bryce Nicholson.
Estella was born on July 28th 1929 at 9 am in Tiguabos, province of Orienta in Cuba. Her name at birth was Estella Justina Morris Y Moncrieffe. Her parents were Ernesto Morris y Maryland and Margarita Moncrieffe, natives of British Jamaica and was later adopted and raised in Jamaica.
Estella met Derrick Ferguson and they moved to Quebec and were later married at Christ Church Cathedral in Montreal on September 30th, 1958. Estella was a teacher in Kingston, Jamaica and continued her teaching career at Mountainview Elementary School. She was a loving grandmother and mother and we will miss her dearly.
A gathering will take place on October 26, 2024 at the Voluntas Funeral Home, 4695 St-Jean Blvd., Dollard-des-Ormeaux, QC H9H 2A7. Visitation is from 1 – 3 p.m., followed by services @ 3 p.m. A reception will follow the service.
