ALT, Andrew
May 18, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father, Andrew Alt, aged 86, on May 18, 2024 in Pointe-Claire.

Andrew was born on April 18, 1938 to John Alt and Suzanne Aquin in Montreal. He will be deeply missed by his 3 daughters, Louise, Catherine (Ron) and Suzanne (David); 5 grandchildren, Amanda (Jonathan), Nikolas, Charlotte, Wil and Hannah; 2 great-grandchildren, Jon and Alivia; his brothers Johnny (Lise) and Francois and his sister Anne Marie (Terry); Zekiya (Tamary) and many relatives and friends.

Andrew will always be remembered for his love of aircraft and he attended many airshows in Montreal and Ontario. He was most proud of his years in the Royal Canadian Airforce. He dedicated many years to the Montreal Aviation Museum, repairing and building many aircraft. He loved traveling, exploring historical sites and meeting interesting people. He loved jazz music and religiously attended the Montreal Jazz Festivals and the Upstairs Jazz Club. He had a passion for food (cooking and eating), especially ethnic and Chinese food. Andrew had a wonderful sense of humor that was enjoyed by everyone around him. He had a love for learning new things and was fascinated by how things worked and were made. We will always remember his constant love and captivation with the moon, stars and the universe.

The celebration of life will be held at the Voluntas Commemoration, 4695 St. Jean Blvd., Dollard-des-Ormeaux, QC H9H 2A7, on Thursday July 25, 2024.  Gathering from 1 to 5 p.m., eulogies at 2 p.m. followed by reception.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

I will always remember our interesting conversations and although I was a child and then a young teenager he made me feel important and respected. The feeling was mutual. Louise, Catherine, and Suzanne, I carry your pain and know your father was a very special person who left a beautiful legacy.
