ANKA, Katherine (nee George)
February 2, 2021

August 8, 1939 – February 2, 2021

It is with deep and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Katherine Anka at her home on February 2, 2021, after enduring a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was surrounded by her four children, Tracey, Terry, Ted and Tamara. Loving wife of the late G. Robert Anka, she is survived by her children, their spouses and 8 grandchildren, siblings Richard (Jodell) and Gary (Debra), her brother-in-law Ronny, and their families, as well as many other close family members and friends.

She devoted her life to the happiness of her husband, children and grandchildren, and deeply touched many other family members, friends and countless others, with her grace, compassion, warmth and love – a genuinely selfless soul loved by so many.

A heartfelt thanks to CLSC Palliative Care, Lakeshore Oncology & Cedars Cancer Centre, most notably Dr. Mandilaras & Dr. Gilbert and a special thanks to caregivers Joanne & Gisellle.

Due to the pandemic, a service will be held at a later date.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Voluntas (514-695-7979, voluntas.ca).

Gathering at a later date

Location to be confirmed

To the Anka family.. I was very sorry to read about the death of your mother and grandmother. I was a good friend of your late father. Played many golf games with him over a 25 year period at Whitlock. May she rest in peace.

Dear Terry, Tracey, Tamara, Teddy & Families,
Your mom, was a blessing, her memory a treasure. She was a very brave, courageous, special woman and loved beyond words. Your mom will be missed by all who knew her. The loss of a mom is one of the greatest losses in life. Words, no matter how kind, can’t mend your heartache. However, those who care for you, wish you comfort and peace of mind. We are thinking of you during this difficult time and we are here whenever you need us. We know your memories of your mom will bring you peace, comfort and strength. Sending prayers to all of you.
    All our love, God Bless,

Our deepest sympathy goes out to the Anka family members on the passing of Katherine. Although my wife and I met her only on a couple of occasions, her late husband Bob, who was a great friend of ours for the last 12 years of his life through Whitlock Golf Club, spoke so warmly of his beloved wife and great mother to their children. God bless her soul.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Your mom was always so welcoming and so tolerant of 2 preteen girls taking over her kitchen with their baking projects on a regular basis. I have a lot of happy memories of time spent in your childhood home, your mom always present. May your memories help you through this. Again, I am so sad for your loss. Your mom was truly wonderful.

Sending my deepest sympathy in the loss of your beloved. I remember her when she was a member of our Alethean Sorority in
Syracuse Central High School. When my mom passed away a friend sent me this and I wanted to share it with you: “We will forever miss our Mothers, those extra ordinary women who brought us to this great dance and taught us how to move gracefully
through it.” Many blessings to you all from one of Kathy’s old sorority sisters.
