Michael McGregor Armstrong passed away April 1st at the Lakeshore General Hospital in Pointe Claire, Quebec at the age of 86. He was born May 3rd, 1937 in Vancouver, the son of Etta Armstrong (Hunter) and Nevin Armstrong. He spent his teenage years in Penticton, where he became an avid water skier, accomplished baseball player and overall fantastic athlete. He helped his father run the Royal Anne Hotel in Kelowna, between semesters at UBC, where he was studying to be a chartered accountant. It was in Kelowna where he met Diana Dore, the love of his life. They were married in September 1962.
During his career, he spent many years at Wood Gundy in Toronto, and later worked at several other brokerage firms. He came out of retirement to assist his son Daniel, cofounder of Beanfield Metroconnect. When he retired for the second time, he and Diana moved to Port Hope, Ontario, and eventually to Baie d’Urfé, outside of Montreal, to be closer to their children.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Diana Armstrong (Dore), his children, Daniel (Jay Fernandes), Jane and Mary-Anne (Karl Wockner), his grandchildren, Hannah & Oliver Wockner, his sister, Patricia Armstrong, niece, Nancy Johnston (Horner) and nephew, David Horner.
An informal reception will be held at the family home June 8th at 3:00 PM.
