After a courageous and hard fought battle against cancer, Pat died peacefully on Saturday, July 15, 2017 with his children at his side. Always an educator, Dad’s gentle, thoughtful and encouraging nature found a way to reach and empower so many of us. At home, in the classroom, on the basketball court and soccer field, at the board office of the former Lakeshore School Board, at the McGill Faculty of Education, wherever he was, Pat inspired individuals, teams and institutions to grow with confidence. No wonder he was such a great gardener.
He will be missed by Alma, his loving and devoted wife of 58 years, his daughter Laurie (Ross), his son Patrick (Louise) and his beloved grandchildren Jennifer (Matt), Patrick and Trevor, along with his sister Marjorie, his sister-in-law Loretta (Ted) and lots of others. Thank you to the skilled and kind people of the MUHC who cared for Dad right to the end.
A memorial celebration will be held at Beaconsfield United Church (202 Woodside Road, Beaconsfield (Qc) H9W 2P1) on September 16, 2017 at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the MUHC Cedars Cancer Centre or a charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Voluntas (Voluntas.ca, 514-695-7979).
