BARRETT, Olive (Cherry)
February 27, 1944 - August 31, 2026

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Olive Patricia Barrett, affectionately known to many as Cherry, on August 31, 2026, at the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence, following her courageous battle with cancer.
Cherry was a loving mother, sister, daughter, aunt, and cherished friend to many. She was known for her vibrant personality, energy, style, strength, and unwavering love for her family. She enjoyed attending church, going out for dinners and outings, taking bus trips, attending picnics, and participating in any event she could. Cherry was also very social and had a remarkable ability to strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere, at any time.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who accompanied her to appointments, provided transportation, prayed for her, visited, brought food, and called to offer support. Special thanks are also extended to the caring staff of Lakeshore General Hospital and the compassionate team at the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence for their exceptional care and kindness.
Cherry was a vibrant woman with a zest for life and love of fashion. As we gather to celebrate her beautiful life, we invite everyone to honour her spirit by dressing for her celebration, looking and feeling your best as we give Cherry a beautiful send-off.
Visitation will take place at Voluntas Commemoration on Friday, September 18, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 12:00 p.m. (the service will also be livestreamed).
Burial will follow at Rideau Memorial Gardens at 2:30 p.m.
A reception will be held at Voluntas Commemoration from 3:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Olive “Cherry” Barrett are invited to consider the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence.

September 18, 2026 at 12:50 pmMy sincere condolences to her family and friends. I met Cherry more than 25 years ago through my friend Pauline Smith. She became a friend. Coming to my BBQs, church dinners and other functions. I knew when she lost her son. That was a terrible experience for her but she carried on. I pray she will join him now. May her soul RIP. We will always remember your kindness and willingness to help, your out going personality, your love for God and church. May God bless your soul as you rest in His everlasting arm. No more pain. No more sorrow, you are at peace

September 18, 2026 at 3:28 pmIt’s so hard to find the right words when someone we’ve known and cared for is no longer here. ❤️
You were more than just our neighbour. We were always here whenever you needed us, and it was truly a blessing to be able to help you in any way we could. You will always hold a special place in our hearts.
Your presence, your kindness, and the memories we shared will never be forgotten. It hurts knowing we won’t see you again, but I hope you’re now resting peacefully.
Rest in peace, dear neighbour. ️❤️
You will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
My deepest condolences to your family and everyone who loved you.
