Edy was born in Villanzengo Italy and grew up in Biella in the north of Italy. She came to Canada 49 years ago with her late husband Ezio (Raymond) Bertolino (d. May 2002). She loved to golf at Summerlea Golf and Country Club where she was a member for 20 years until the onset of her illness started at the end of 2010. Edy had a very special gift.
