Irma Bolton

Irmgard (Irma) Maria Bolton, nee Gosenheimer, passed away peacefully at Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence on Saturday November 20th, 2021.

Predeceased by the father of her children, Alfred Bolton and longtime partner Spr. Tom Hutton. Mother of David (Carol), Barbara (deceased), Steven (Cynthia), and Deborah (Keith). Oma to Stephanie, Lauren (Tyler), Catherine (Rebecca), Joshua, and Oliver. Great grandmother to Kalli, Ava and Charlie. She leaves behind her sister Gerlinde Senft, and extended family in Germany. Lifetime friends in Germany and Canada; Irmgard, Inge and Betty.

Born in Langen in 1930, she came to Canada in 1953 as a brave young woman seeking adventure in a foreign land that she would grow to call home. Irma traveled extensively in her 91 years, setting foot on 4 continents by land, sea and air. A talented craftswoman, a gifted gardener, and passionate cat lover. Her most recent and beloved companion was her cat Shadow, a rescue aptly named, never leaving her side.

A private burial will take place at The Pointe Claire Field of Honour (PA 806). In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence, Casca Hudson (on instagram: @cascahudson) or the Last Post Fund.

Please feel free to contact the family via email: Rileydeb@bell.net

To our mom, Your pain is over. You got your wish. I know that you said “Getting Old Sucks”; but we are happy that you lived a good long life and that we were able to travel together and see all the places on your bucket list. All the boxes are ticked. Lebewohl, Mom Ich hab dich lieb. Debbie

I would like to convey my and Sue’s deepest sympathies to you and your family on the loss of your Mom. She was a strong and determined woman who my mother had the great good fortune to have as a life-long friend. I still have childhood recollections of Irma, my favourite being the night she made wiener schnitzel for both our families at your home in Pierrefonds! I suspect you may not remember the dinner but it is still a vivid memory for me! At least the schnitzel is!

I hope it is not too long before today’s tears become tomorrow’a fond memories.

    With warm regards,

    Iain

I am sad to hear. A difficult time for you I am sure over the last times. And although there would be relief in the end, also much sadness to see her go.
As you say, the end of an era. You are lucky to have had her so long. There will be much to remember. All the very best from me to you!!
A big hug from this far away place and as they say customarily, a long life.

    Dear Deb,

It is with deep sadness to hear you lost your dear Mom. Jim and I send our deepest condolences to all of you.

Our days living on Redwood were happy and I enjoyed my many visits with Irma. In fact my favourite saying is also “Getting Old Sucks”.

I must have learned it over the coffee table on Redwood.

Take care Debbie and you can take comfort knowing you were with her and she was able to count on your help. Daughters are a blessing.

    All our love,

    Jim & Kareen
