We are saddened to announce that late on July 23, 2021, Michael (Mike) Owen Callard lost his hard fought battle with cancer. Loving husband of Marina (Rina), Father to Huw and Rhian. Grandfather to Daryl, Brandyn, Christopher and Stacey, great-grandfather to Kian. Predeceased by his parents, Percy and Edith, brother and sister-in, Allan and Pat.
Born in Cardiff, Wales at the end of WW2. Immigrating to Canada in 1975 to start a job with Rolls-Royce Canada, in Montreal. He transferred to Vancouver in 1983 to be part of the Rolls-Royce support team there. His work enabled him to see many locales around the world. In 1994 he met Rina and they married in 1996. Once again, the transfer bell rang and they were transferred to Montreal late 1999.
As an active member of his parish, St. Thomas à Becket, Mike enjoyed being involved in several projects.. Mike had a passion for music and woodworking, which he shared with our parish. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, Becket Social Club, and more.
Mike will be greatly missed by his Family and Friends here, in Wales and around the world.
We would like to Thank the Doctors, Nurses and Staff of the Lakeshore General Hospital, CLSC & Nova for their care of Mike. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to The Lakeshore General Hospital or St. Thomas à Becket Parish.

    Rina, I wish to express my deepest condolences to both you & Family. Even though I have been away from the Parish for a number of years I always had fond memories of Mike. Of significance, he would always take the time to say “HELLO MATE”! And how are things? May he forever Rest In the Peace of Christ +

    We were very saddened to hear of the passing of Mike. His legendary friendship of him and family, when we were all new to Montreal, was much valued and it is to you all that we send our condolences. His funeral service was both moving and memorable.
