CHAMMAS, MARY (NÉE GUESRI)
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our mom, Mary Chammas on January 23, 2022 at the age of 87.
Mary was predeceased by her loving husband of 40 years Fernand Chammas. She leaves behind her 3 children, Nagy (Gisele Parthenais), Christine (David DeVries), Karen (Gordon Nixon). She was the best Teta to her 5 grandchildren who she cherished and adored with all her heart, James (Chelsia Solari), Andrew, Eric, Mitchell, Cassidy.
Predeceased by brothers Hani & George and sister Leila. Cherished and loving aunt to nieces and nephews, Mimi, Ziad, Reem, Dana, Wael, Roland, Chris, Sherine, Rasha and their spouses and children who she loved as her own.
Mary came to Canada from Egypt in 1964 and was a proud Canadian that never lost her roots. She spent 30 years working at Simpsons where she loved meeting people every day. She was quick to help anyone who asked and made friends wherever she went. Her smile lit up a room.
She loved to cook for her family, and enjoyed when our friends came over and tried her dishes that were so different than what they were used to. She loved to have our friends at the house, a full house was a happy house. She welcomed everyone with open arms, no matter who you were and she was genuinely interested in anything you had to say – and many went to her for advice over the years.
She was known by Mom, Teta, Mrs. C, and Mary. She was a pillar of strength always thinking of everyone but herself.
We will miss her everyday, as Mom was the strongest person we knew. No matter what we wanted or needed she was always there with unconditional love and support. Mom and Pa raised us well and gave us the strength to go on.
Mom was blessed to have been cared for by the angels at TDPCR for her final days for which we are grateful. In lieu of flowers donations to Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence would be appreciated.
Due to Covid restrictions a private service will be held at Voluntas, on Monday, January 31st. Service will be live streamed starting at 10:30 AM, for those that cannot attend in person.

January 29, 2022 at 4:18 pmDear Dana, Rafik, Manuela, Georges and Joyce. Sincere Condolences for the passing of Mary to the House of our Lord. Mary was a kind and loving soul that enlightened everyone with her tender gentle smile, good humor and care for others. Being with Mary was a joy and a delight for you all and that feeling was reciprocated by how much she loved and enjoyed being with you. In a world short on Angels, the Lord has just called one of his own. May God give you the strength and patience during this difficult but temporary separation and may she continue to pray and intercede for all of you. The Lord gave, the Lord has taken away. Blessed be the name of the Lord.
