CHRISTOPOULOS, Costa (Gus)
December 30, 2022

It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Costa “Gus” Christopoulos on December 30, 2022 in a cycling accident in Florida. Beloved husband and life partner of Tina Ferstman. Proud father of Andriana, devoted son of Panagiotis “Peter” and Athanasia “Sia” Christopoulos, loving big brother and brother-in-law to Anna and Peter (Dimitrakopoulos), Angelo and Mary (Kolokotronis). Treasured uncle of Nicolas and Thomas “Thano” Dimitrakopoulos, Nancy and Paulina Christopoulos. Gus will be greatly missed by his family, friends, colleagues, clients, cycling cronies, golf, hiking and ski buddies, and all those whose lives he touched.

Gus and Tina met while studying Exercise Science at Concordia and created a life together centered on their many good friends, travel, and active outdoor adventures. They married in 1992, magically blending their different cultures and backgrounds, and were a formidable team for forty years at home and out in the world. Gus loved being a parent and Andriana’s presence in his life enriched him beyond words. Gus’s strong work ethic, his passion for health and fitness, and his genuine way with people, all came together to help build a successful business at Fitness Depot. After retiring a year and a half ago, he was delighted to spend more time with his family and friends, travelling, and pursuing his lifelong passions including fitness and cycling.

Gus was a quiet leader, generous mentor and loving son, brother, husband and father. We are heartbroken to lose him so soon, but grateful for the time we had with this warm, kind and special man.

From one Tina to another Tina, just know you are in my thoughts. I was so sorry to hear this. It brought back a lot of emotions I felt when my mother died. This was not supposed to happen, just when you were approaching a time when you could be less busy and do some nice things together. Please know it will get easier, but it takes time and comes and goes in waves. Just go where the waves take you, there is no other way.

My sincere condolences to Tina and Andriana. I had the great pleasure of reconnecting with Gus on the bike this past summer after more than 25 years. He was my first boss (Fitness Depot), he was always kind, patient and encouraging. A great person, may he rest in peace.
