DELLAR, Barbara (née Cooke)
June 18, 2023

It is with profound sadness that the family of Barbara Lois Cooke Dellar announce her passing at Ste. Anne’s Hospital on June 18th, 2023. Barbara was born in Northampton, Massachusetts and was predeceased by her parents, Anna and Allen Cooke and brother, Allen.

Barbara’s faith often reflected the anticipatory joy of reuniting for eternity with her children who preceded her in death, Michael (Claire Montillet), and Teresa (Gavin Fernandes).

She will be forever missed by her husband of 72 years, Leonard, son Howard (Dianne Cachia), daughters Lois (James Milvain), and Mary (Sean McAleer), and grandchildren, Conor, Jonathan, Nicholas, Liam, and Sarah, and by her nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, great grandnephews, and great grandnieces.

Barbara was known by many names, St. Mary’s Hospital Volunteer, West Island Palliative Care Receptionist, Eucharistic Minister, Loyola High School Mother’s Guild Member, Beckett Player, Beckett Pantry Coordinator, and artist to name but a few. Her favorite names though were Mom and Babby.

Barbara loved to paint, and her work is a hybrid of factual realities and fabricated illusions to conjure the realms of our imagination and often appear as dreamlike images (Heaven’s Gate, Ghost Wolf). She also explored the concept of landscape in a nostalgic way (Garden Pathway). Many of her works grace the walls of the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence.

The family wishes to thank Dr. G. Richer and the wonderful angels of the 14th floor.

The family invites you to a funeral mass on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at 11 a.m., at St. Veronica’s Parish, 1300 Carson Ave., Dorval, Qc. Condolences at the church from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Internment at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence are appreciated.
“Prayer is not asking. Prayer is putting oneself in the hands of God, at His disposition, and listening to His voice in the depth of our hearts.” (Mother Teresa)

Our heartfelt condolences to you at the loss of your mother. She was an example of poise and kindness, a pillar of the community, and a matriarchal figure to us. Seeing her in church and at events gave the girls and me a sense of belonging after our move back home. There was always acceptance and a happy exchange. She held you all together and was woven into the fabric of our lives. We are truly sad and mourn with you.
Thank you, Mrs. Dellar. We will keep you in our memory and pray for you.
