Mr. David Finn

David Harry Finn

1951-2022

David passed away peacefully with family at his side on Friday, July 29th, at the West Island Palliative Care Centre. Beloved dad to Kelly Cluett (Evan Griffiths) and Curtis (Sara) Cluett. Grandpa to William, Ginny Finn, and Charlie Pia. Predeceased by beloved partner Pia LaPorte. Will be missed by brothers Bruce (Barb); Brian (Felicity); and Stephen (Karen). Remembered by nieces and nephews: Heather (Eric) and Robert (Lynea); Allen, Henry and Jesse (Kylie); Kimberly. Predeceased by parents Helen and Bud Finn.

Throughout his life Dave loved the urban vibes of Boston, Toronto, and Montreal, especially jazz festivals, NHL hockey, and gastronomic indulgences. He also loved the tranquility and natural beauty of the remote Northern Ontario family cottage, where he swam, hiked, boated, and fished.

Although Dave lived with three cancers over the past fifteen years, this did not define him. He picked up his trumpet, swung his golf clubs, and walked his dog, Wilson, with a positive attitude and hope, day by day. Many thanks to his dear friend Yvonne, who in his final weeks, gave support and loving care during illness at home, in hospital, and in hospice.

In his teens, Dave and his friends formed a band called Sound Judgment, which played in community halls and hotels. In his retirement years, he played in several local bands in the Beaconsfield area at seniors’ residences and outdoor parks. Dave would encourage us to support local musicians, attend live concerts, and live our own song.

Memorial for Dave will be held at his home on Saturday, August 13, 2022 12-5pm. Please email kelly_cluett@outlook.com if you would like to join us in celebrating David’s life.

Dave will be missed by many. I only have great memories – whether it was talking about sports, music, work or just life. Dave was the one that introduced me to Jazz and you could see him light up when talking about Miles Davis – or the Habs of course. I am grateful to have been able to share a part of his life – something that I will cherish forever. R.I.P. my good friend

Such a gentleman and fisherman, memories working with Dave at Bell in Toronto, walks to the coffee shop at the Eaton Centre, guidance during Sales situations and of course ice fishing trips to the Waltonian. Such wonderful memories and fun times. Rest Peacefully Dave, you will be missed
    Cheers to you !

David was an avid trumpet player, we enjoyed playing in bands together for the past 4 years. I will remember David with fondness. Kind souled with a big heart and easy going nature. Both myself and my wife Annie wil be attending.
