FOSTER, Ian T.
March 2, 2024

It’s with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ian Foster in his 86th year.  He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Heather, daughter Wendy (John), son Dan (Melanie) and his granddaughters Marina and Fiona.  Also survived by his sister-in-law Carole (Jeff), Judy (Don) and Brother-in-Law David (Diane) and several nieces and nephews.

He spent many wonderful years at Brookwood Basketball, watching his kids play, timing and coaching and just being there to help.  The summers were spent at Versailles pool also timing and driving all the kids to meets.  He certainly loved to watch hockey and baseball and even went to the first subway series and saw a perfect game! He was also proud of the fact he had his name on the Stanley Cup!  Yup don’t tell anyone but after one of the Habs cup wins he was in the presence of the cup, which comes apart and he wrote his name on the inside!

Anyone who knew him well knew about his other mode….’Trailer Mode’. Every weekend no matter what, nothing could interfere with going to his trailer, including his daughter’s wedding.  He did give it up that weekend but never let her live it down.

In early years he was very active in the Masonic lodge, the Waverly chapter.  He spent his entire career in the printing industry and when he retired, he started working for Avis, he just loved driving. He knew the city like the back of his hand.  He also loved getting together with crew at the coffee shop every morning where they would sit and solve the world’s problems.  He is going to be greatly missed.  We raise a Lafleur’s hotdog to you Ian.

A celebration of life will take place March 31st 1:30-4:30 at the Fritz Community Centre 20477 Lakeshore Rd, Baie-D’Urfe Quebec, H9X 1R3.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Voluntas.

Lots of good times over the years. We remember when he umpired for the girls softball team and did an excellent job doing it. Our wonderful holidays in Maine. He was the best chauffeur ever. A good guy.
