Francis (Frank) Desmond Hughes, aged 88, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2026, of natural causes. Born in Montreal on June 27, 1937, Frank was the beloved son of Rose McKenna and Frank Hughes.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Barbara Cameron Hughes; his son Michael Hughes (Kyla Martin); his daughter Lorraine Hughes (Michael Sparks); and his grandchildren Rose Hughes and Grace Hughes. Frank will also be deeply missed by his brother John Hughes, his wife Betty, and their children — Brian, Brenda, Kevin, and Terry — as well as his extended family, including the Rattray family, and Laura, Godwin and Denisia, whom the family fondly remembers as angels who cared for him.
Frank will be remembered for his warmth, quiet strength, great laughter, and unwavering dedication to his family. His gentle spirit and steady presence enriched the lives of all who knew him.
A visitation and service will be held at Voluntas, 4695 St-Jean, Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Qc H9H 2A7, on Friday, March 27, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., with eulogies at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society, an organization close to the family’s heart.
