KOELBLI, Magdalena (nee Legler)

1930 – 2026

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Magdalena Koelbli (nee Legler) on January 15, 2026, the eve of her 96^th birthday. Magdalena was born in Batsch, Yugoslavia,  journeyed to Bad Hofgastein, Austria in her youth and settled in Montreal in 1953.

Magdalena is being  welcomed to heaven by her adoring husband, Michael, her son, Michael, her granddaughter, Shauna Catherine, and her brother, Stefan.

Mourning her passing are her brother George (Maria); her children Renate and Ronald (Fiona); her grandchildren Mandi (Phil), Lisa (Robin), Suzanne, Cristina (Mark), James (Laura) and Derek (Klara); her great-grandchildren Lupin, Hannah, Tristan, Ben, Gabriel and Aria, as well as many other family members and friends.

Her family will never forget the strong values she passed down from our Schwaben heritage, her unwavering pragmatism and incredible sense of humour.  Oma’s last weeks were spent surrounded by her beautiful family sharing wonderful memories.

A celebration of life will take place on April 11 from 1 pm to 4 pm at Voluntas Commemoration, 4695 Boul. Saint-Jean, Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Quebec.  There will be a service followed by refreshments.

The eventual burial will be alongside her husband and granddaughter in Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Cemetery.
