KOWALEWSKI, Christopher
January 25, 2022

April 5, 1953 – January 25, 2022

It is with great sadness and a broken heart that we announce the sudden passing of Christopher Kowalewski at the age of 68 from complications of a lung infection. Chris was a loving, caring husband and best friend to Lynn Ouellette for 27 years. He was an attentive and loving brother to Anna Kowalewski. Beloved son of the late Margaret Mary Kowalewski (Dewhurst) (2014) and late Edmund Kowalewski (1999). Son-in-law to René Ouellette and Joan Ouellette (Brewer). Brother-in-law to Danny Ouellette (Sylvie Rock) and sisters-in-law Shirley Ouellette (Alain Lacroix) and Gail Ouellette (Adrien Gruslin).  Uncle to Martin Ouellette and Isabelle Ouellette (Philippe-Alexandre Cloutier). Great-uncle to Gabrielle, Emma, Zoélie and Charles-Émile. Godfather to Andrew Dupuis and long-time buddy to many best friends.

Lung cancer survivor for 10 years, he faced many health adversities with great courage and tolerance. Chris had an immensely generous and caring heart, he was always willing to help anyone in need. He had a very creative mind and he was known for his famous witty imagination. He was a master of practical jokes, he had a great sense of humour and he appreciated a good laugh.  Chris was retired from Concordia University where he worked as a glassblower. He was passionate about golf and Scotland, he loved children and he always made sure they had fun when visiting. He also loved his dogs and cats as well as all animals. He appreciated and admired the subtle beauty that nature provided.  He was an artist at heart with an engineer mindset which gave him the ability and talent to fix anything and to do so very meticulously.

Chris will be tremendously missed by everyone who knew him. A private last goodbye has been held in his honour. ‘Sadly, life goes on without you but you will live forever in our hearts and memories.’

To my dear friend Lynn and her family, I wish to express, my sincere condolences.
I knew Chris on both a professional and a personal basis. At l’UQAM, he was a master glassblower and constantly came up with incredibly constructive repairs and fabrications. His excellent glassblowing qualities were well known thought all the Universities.
On a personal note, I came to discover a gentle, caring and immensely witted man. On could say that there were few things that this fellow could not do. But was most important to me, is that in his presence he dedicated all of himself in a conversation. And would always have some smart opinion or comment about every subject.
I admired his constant battle with lung cancer. He fought the odds because he had an utmost will to live. I shall miss you. You are truly an inspiration to me.
