Leggett, Dale (Drysdale)
October 8, 2016

1939-2016

Our father passed away peacefully at home on October the 8th at the age of seventy-seven. We are so sad. But he was able to have his wish to die at home fulfilled because our mother, Orian, worked tirelessly to make this happen for him. We are proud.

Dale (Drysdale) Leggett was born in Montreal and raised by the late and nothing-but-great Muriel Leggett (nee Wilson). After a free-spirited stint as a teenager, which provided a lot of valuable experience, Dale got smart and very serious, married Orian, had three children, and became a wonderful father and provider. We grew up in a welcoming and loving home in which we were only asked to try. And our parents were each other’s best friend. Their example was an incredible gift for us.

Sometimes seemingly taciturn, and sometimes reticent, Dale made a living as a civil engineer and in business, always building trust as his foundation, and managing to co-host a long-running phone-in radio show on gardening. He made friends wherever he went. He really did. And he made friends of our friends by welcoming everyone into our home and celebrating anything and everything with his family. Our dad has more friends than he even knew.

He will be greatly missed by his seven adoring grandchildren: Shannon, William, Terra, Elizabeth, Christian, Nathaniel and Sophie.

With the deepest respect and endless love, Sharron (Bruno), Shaun (Michelle) and Trista (Steve)

We will receive friends and family for a celebration of Dale’s life on Saturday, October 29th from 3:30 to 6:30pm with tributes to Dale taking place at 4pm at the Lord Reading Yacht Club, 260 Beaconsfield Blvd., Beaconsfield. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Dale’s memory may be made to Nova West Island or Sun Youth.
