Deceased in Pointe-Claire on May 3, 2022 at the age of 85. She is survived by her son Dominic (Nancy), her grandchildren Jacob and Alicia, as well as other relatives and friends.
Born to Jeanne DeKeyser and Jean Ho in Nanjing, China. Accompanied by her 3 brothers (René, Joseph, and Antoine) and her 4 sisters (Alice, Marie-Jeanne, Rita, and Pascaline) she arrived in Canada in 1948. Lucie was among one of the first women to receive a university degree in Sociology (1958) in Quebec. She then completed her training at the École Normale de Sainte-Hyacinthe to become a Mathematics and French teacher. In 1968 she married Serge LeBlanc and, following the birth of their son Dominic, in 1972 she left her profession to devote herself to her new family. In 1974, she founded Wool Oasis Laine Engr. – the first of 3 knitting stores. She then incorporated the first Sears catalog counter of the West-Island into her business. Always devoted to her Christian beliefs, Lucie returned to her love of teaching to help with the religious formation of the children of St. David’s Parish.
A mass will be held at the Parish of Jesus Light of the World (Marie-Reine-de-la-Paix Church,11075 Boul Gouin O, Pierrefonds, QC H8Y 1X6) on May 21st at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Sainte-Geneviève Cemetery (20176 Boul Gouin O, Pierrefonds, Quebec H9K 1G4) near Cap St-Jacques. A lunch will be served at the parish hall of Sainte-Geneviève church around 2 p.m. (16037, boul. Gouin Ouest, Ste-Geneviève H9H 1C7)
In lieu of flowers, donations to Parish Jesus Light of the World would be appreciated by the family.
