I was fortunate to know Hugh as a fellow member of our writing group. He was always a real gentleman, very humble and kind. I enjoyed his wonderful stories written in true form in longhand and lovingly kept in notebooks. His dry wit and humour endeared him to all of us. He was an example of a life well-lived. My deepest sympathies to your family. Hugh leaves a wonderful legacy.

To all the family I wish to express my deepest sympathies from myself and on behalf of my parents whom have passed. We knew him very very well, we were all together in horticultural groups and especially his beloved roses. We laughed, chatted and reminisced about the UK, as we were from N. Wales. Our love of plants and gardening kept us together for a very long time. We loved him, laughed with him, and I have treasured memories of knowing him. Bless him and may his memory always be a blessing. God speed dear friend, and rest peacefully. Bless.
