Robert McWilliams

Robert Gordon McWilliams, 92, passed in the early hours of August 3 at Lakeshore General Hospital.  He was a fighter his whole life, battling cancer and diminished sight over the past many years. His heart could not survive its last attack and succumbed to it but not without a fight to the very end, stubborn as he was.

Robert was fully committed; to his family, his CN rail career and the many sports teams he played for including baseball, golf, hockey, football, skiing and Canoeing.

He is survived by his sons Robert and Michael (Cindy), his grandchildren Alannah, Bobby, Bryan, Hayley, Carter, Mason and great grandson Bentley.  He joins his wife Muriel and daughter Cathy in a more peaceful place, where he’ll socialize with many more, in his style. He is loved and sorely missed.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Voluntas (514-695-7979, voluntas.ca).

I am 12 years younger than Bob and also had a long career with CN. I state the age difference because I definitely recall that Bob was a legend in terms of CN sports and may have played softball (fastball) against him at the Lachine grounds. I extend sincere sympathies to surviving family members.
