Alan Mitchell died peacefully at Lakeshore General Hospital on August 6, 2026, at the age of 89.

Beloved husband of the late Beverley (née Sundborg) and father of the late Vicki. He will be very sadly missed by his daughter Leslie, son-in-law Jonathan, and grandchildren Laura and Jason.

Alan worked as a land surveyor well into his 70s — a career he chose because he could never imagine himself being confined to an office. He had a deep appreciation for nature, and he and Bev enjoyed exploring many provincial, state, and national parks across Canada and the United States. Some of their fondest memories were made while camping in Vermont.

A quiet and private man, Alan would not have wanted a fuss or a formal service. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no funeral.

Throughout his life, Alan generously supported many charitable organizations. Those wishing to honour his memory may consider donations to NOVA West Island, Seeing Eye Dogs, or Canadian Red Cross.

You may also wish to raise a glass in his memory — something Alan would have appreciated.
