MOORE, Robert Alexander

Robert Alexander Moore

04.13.1964 – 11.05.2023

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert Alexander Moore, beloved husband, father, grandfather, pastor, and friend. Robert went to be with Jesus on November 5, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love and faith that will forever be cherished by those who knew him.

Born on April 13,1964, Robert was the son of Edmund and Joyce Moore. He grew up in Ottawa in a close-knit family alongside his siblings, Brenda, Steven and Eileen. He shared many happy moments playing football, hockey and riding his motorcycles. He grew up with close friends and Robert’s kindness and compassion shone brightly, influencing those around him.

Robert Moore was a loving husband to his closest and most cherished friend, his wife, Jana, with whom he shared a beautiful journey of more than three decades. Together, they raised three strong, gentle children: Jared, Madison and Chelsea. Robert’s role as a father was filled with love, guidance, and wisdom, and his children carry his legacy of love and faith forward.

As a faithful pastor, Robert dedicated his life to building the kingdom of God. An alumni of Eastern Bible College, Robert graduated in 1986 and has served as a dedicated member of the board for years. Following his graduation, he went on to pastor in Carleton Place and Orangeville before joining Reality Ministries, serving in itinerant ministry with his family for 15 years. In 2009, God called Robert and his family to Thailand, where he served and discipled others in Chiang Mai for 6 years.

In 2016, Robert and Jana relocated to Montreal, where Robert has served for the last 7 years as Executive Pastor at Evangel Pentecostal Church. Robert’s wisdom, spiritual guidance and management capabilities provided a beacon of hope for the congregation, and his commitment to both faith and community made a profound impact on the lives of countless individuals.

In addition to his immediate family, Robert’s legacy is carried on through his beloved grandchildren, Vivienne and Jude, and their mother Elizabeth who brought immeasurable joy into his life. He was a doting Pops who cherished every moment spent with them, passing on his love and faith to the next generation.

Robert’s memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew him. His gentle spirit, compassionate nature, and unwavering faith have left an unmistakable mark on the world. While we mourn his passing, we also celebrate the life he lived and the love he shared.

A visitation will be held at Voluntas Commemoration Inc in Montreal, Quebec on November 10 from 5-9 pm. A memorial service to honour Robert will be held on November 11, 2023 at 2pm at Evangel Pentecostal Church in Montreal (Live streamed). In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Centre Thailand or Agape Home Ministries in Thailand in honour of Robert’s dedication to his faith and ministry there.

Robert will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. The Moore family is incredibly grateful for your prayers and support during this challenging time.

We count ourselves so privileged to have had Ps. Rob be a major part of some of our biggest milestones; He officiated our wedding last year and also blessed our very first home this summer. From the second we met him, we always felt like he was a piece of home. He always made us feel welcome and a part of Evangel. We will forever cherish those memories with him. Here is to one of the most friendly, gentle & genuine people we have ever had the pleasure of meeting. We will miss your huge bear hugs the most Ps. Rob – until we meet again xx

I, Cosimo, will never forget how, many years ago, when Reality Ministries came to the church I used to attend in my youth, Pastor Rob coached us on our acting for the evangelistic play we would present; in playing the role of Jesus …Fast forward to several years later, when we had the privilege of being under his pastorship at Evangel, where we witnessed him actually live out that role of servant-leader in the way he pastored, led his family, was like a father figure to many and a Christlike example for us all. He will be tremendously missed, having made an enduring impact on countless lives for the Kingdom of God. I, Shannon, got to work on staff with him, and it was such an honour and privilege to do so. He always looked out for us, and always believed in us, and supported us to the fullest. I will miss all the conversations and jokes we had around the lunch table as a staff with him. Working at Evangel felt like family and he was a big part of the reason for that. Our hearts grieve with you Jana, Madison, Chelsea, Jared & Elizabeth, your children and extended family. You and the Evangel family are all in our thoughts and prayers.

Speaking for myself and I know all of the youth who passed through the doors at Broadway Tabernacle Pentecostal Church in Orangeville, Pastor Rob was a mentor and a shining example to us of what it is to walk strongly next to the Lord. Rob was patient, kind, humble, generous, honest. He spoke the truth in all circumstances and preached unapologetically the authentic Word of God. We have so many fun memories of those years! For many of us, Rob was our introduction to Christ: he taught us how to brave the world of challenges we faced as young people: how to persevere, how to keep the faith, and most of all, how to love one another. We would not be the people we are today without the piece of him that we all carry with us, and so he lives on even here on earth. Jana, I know the heartache you feel now, and we long to carry it for you. Please access your friends and family in the knowledge that we love you deeply, today, tomorrow, and many years down the road as your grief requires. We receive you openly <3

It’s often said that people may not remember much of what others say, but they’ll never forget how others make them feel. As a young kid growing up at Bethel, Rob always had time for me, and made me feel important. Always had time to throw around the football, tell me I had potential, and be a friend. One weekend he even let me come and stay with him at EPBC and attend classes with him. Unforgettable. I’m sure none of this comes a surprise to his family. Wonderful man and an early mentor to me!

He had a massive heart, caring for others, loving his family and friends unconditionally. His smile, his laugh and his joy would light up a room. His playfulness and charm were engaging. Our Mom’s were cousins via the Ottawa Valley Stevenson clan. I first met Rob when Eddie and Joyce brought clan Moore through Winnipeg to stay with us in the late ’70s. He was full of fun. (We all had a time!) In 1990, I stayed at the Moore home in Ottawa (more fond memories) and on my travels back home arranged to meet Rob at a Tim’s somewhere along the 401. He made a special effort and that meant a lot. We had a great time and prayed together. Just a few months ago Joyce told me where Rob was now pastor so I could reach out next time passing through Montreal. I was looking forward to reconnecting, expecting that would happen early next year.
It is hard to understand why our precious saints seem to be taken from us prematurely. A mystery to be made known when we all reconnect one day. Joyce, Eddie, Jana, Jared, Maddie, Chelsea & family, my heart breaks for you. I pray that the Comforter is with you and softens your sadness.
Reading and hearing the heartfelt accounts of Rob on this day of remembrance, there is no doubt of his love for family, the Kingdom, and his Saviour. It is clear that he was still full of fun, that he always made a special effort. Plus so much more. Heaven is richer today.

Our hearts are broken when we think of Rob ‘s strong influence in our lives, being taken away. However we do understand that God’s plan for our lives is perfect. Ed and Joyce, we are praying for God’s peace and comfort, to rest on you. Thank you for sharing Rob’s life with us.
