May 4, 1941-December 7, 2023

Peacefully after a short illness, surrounded by his loved ones, Gérard Rejskind died in Montreal on December 7, 2023, at the age of 82. Born in Paris in 1941 to Jacqueline (Hénault) and Mischa Rejskind, Gérard emigrated to Canada with his family in 1947 and settled in Saskatchewan, then later in Montreal. Gérard was pre-deceased by his partner Reine Lessard. He is survived by his daughter Margot, his granddaughter Audrey, and his close friend of many years Käthe Lieber.

Over his long and varied careers as a journalist, radio producer, and publisher of UHF (Ultra High Fidelity) Magazine, Gérard made many lifelong friends. He loved music, words, films, technology, theatre, and fine dining. His industry colleagues and all who knew him will miss his knowledge of different domains, his insatiable curiosity, his wit and sense of humour (in both languages).

A celebration of Gérard’s life will be held in Montreal in the spring. Cremation entrusted to Voluntas. Memorial donations will be gratefully received by Luminos Ensemble or the Neurological Institute and Hospital.

Paisiblement après une courte maladie, entouré de ses proches, Gérard Rejskind est décédé à Montréal le 7 décembre 2023, à l’âge de 82 ans. A true loss to those of us in the Hi-Fi world. A very approachable and courteous person. I chatted with him many times over the phone, email and at hifi shows. He convinced me many years ago to transfer all my CDs to hard drive, and I’ve never looked at another CD machine. Our small hifi community is very poorer tonight. We will miss you Gerard. RIP.

My condolences to his family at this difficult time.
He was truly a great man; his wit wisdom and unique insight will be sorely missed.
My corner of the universe is less one bright, shining star.
