SCARPALEGGIA, Lois (née Doucet)
January 18, 2023

November 15, 1929 – January 18, 2023

After a brief illness, Lois left us in her 94th year. The daughter of Louis Doucet and Ellen O’Connell, she was predeceased by her six older siblings. She was also predeceased by Maurice, her husband of almost 50 years. She is survived by her son Francis (Jan Ramsay) and granddaughters Mia and Caroline.

Lois’ long and happy marriage to Maurice included wonderful travel with dear friends. A loving and devoted mother, she later relished her role as grandmother to Mia and Caroline.

Throughout her lifetime Lois enjoyed rich friendships including in later years at the Cambridge.

Lois was by nature curious and open to learning. An avid reader, she enjoyed her books and her Globe and Mail. She explored new interests throughout her life but was particularly drawn to art. She enthusiastically enrolled in fine arts courses at Sir George Williams University. Most of all, Lois enjoyed painting and possessed a keen eye for colour.

The family is grateful to the dedicated nursing staff and doctors at the Lakeshore General Hospital for their attentive care.

A visitation will be held on January 25 from 2-4pm and from 7-9pm, at Voluntas, 4695 St-Jean Boulevard, Dollard-des-Ormeaux, H9H 2A7. A service will be held on January 26, at 11am, at St. Edmund of Canterbury Church, 105 Beaconsfield Boulevard, Beaconsfield, H9W 3Z8.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lakeshore General Hospital Foundation.

Thank you, Maura. She loved breaking bread with you and the others. It was always the highlight of her day. I mentioned you in my eulogy in recognition of how much dinnertime with her friends meant to her. Francis

Thank you to you both. I appreciate you reaching out. My mother was always very proud of her Irish roots. She is very much the source of my connection to the UIS.

Thank you, Pamela. I appreciate your thoughtfulness. The daughter of an Irish immigrant, Lois was very attached to her Irish roots. She would have been touched by your message. I believe her mother was married at the Basilica.
