Chalres Scott

Scott, Charles

1931-2022

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Charlie Scott (Charles Pearson Scott) after 91 years of a life lived fully with great caring, creativity, passion, humor, and love of life.

Charlie passed away on July 20, under the kind and gentle caring of the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence (Pointe Claire) where he was kept in comfort during his final days.

Loving husband of Jeanne Taylor, loving father of Geoff Scott and Frazer Scott, stepfather of Lynn Palfenier and Robert Palfenier, and grandfather of Shaughnessy. He also will be missed by all of his many dear friends and relatives with whom he had important and meaningful relations throughout his 91 years.

The following words were written by congregant Elizabeth Chown-Lafreniere of Cedar Park United Church that the family feel so brilliantly captures the essence and spirit of Charlie:

“Charlie was 91 but he was ageless, wasn’t he? So full of life and love, always quick with a warm smile, gentle hug and kind words. Charlie was the photographic chronicler for decades at Cedar Park United church, and the Lounge at the church is full of albums of his photos of the life, work and people of the congregation. He was so dedicated in that role that he would go home between the sunrise service and Easter Sunday Celebration to print pictures and prepare displays of the early morning worship. Long before the stairs were added, before special worship events Charlie would climb a ladder to the balcony, balance on floor joists and an old ping pong table and set up his camera and tripod to capture photos for posterity. Charlie effortlessly elicited a smile from every child and adult so he could capture their joy on film. Charlie was a true gem, and we will all miss him.

Charlie, thank you for sharing your light, love, wisdom, and faith with us. You were loved beyond measure.”

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2022, at 1:30 p.m. Cedar Park United, 204 Lakeview Ave., Pointe-Claire, Qc H9S 4C5. A reception will follow at Voluntas, 4695 St-Jean Blvd., Dollard-des-Ormeaux H9H 2A7, as of 3 p.m.

Donations in his memory can be sent to Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence

Thank you all for your thoughts … Jeanne, Frazer, Geoff, Lynn, Rob, Shaughnessy.

We too will be honoured to be there for both parts. We loved Charlie, as most people did and miss his charming smile, warmth and playfulness.
