TROYER, Michael

Michael Troyer

It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Michael James Troyer. Following a two-year battle with cancer, he died peacefully surrounded by his family.

He leaves behind his best friend and wife of 32 years, Lindsay Worden, as well as his children, his pride and joy, Cameron and Hilary. He was a loving son to Loretta (nee Kennedy) and the late Peter, older brother to Anne (Marty), Paul (Ann-Louise), and Lise (Chris), son-in-law to the late Bob and Beverley Worden, brother-in-law to Peter (Ann) and Cathy (Brian), and Uncle Michael or Muncle to many nieces and nephews.

Michael enjoyed his childhood in Pointe Claire, as well as his weekends and summer at Orford Lake. He was an active young man, in sport and in social circles. His father’s wish that he marry a skier, a priority in their family, came true in 1990 when Michael married Lindsay. He made friends wherever he went – through their moves to Burlington then Kitchener and back to Beaconsfield. Throughout his life, Michael was the ultimate host and created countless memories with his family and friends at some of his favourite places: Orford, the fishing camp, Goose Rocks, and finally his dream farm in Antigonish.

We are heartbroken to see him go, but we are so grateful for the time we had.

Please join us in a celebration of his life on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 2pm at Voluntas, 4695 St-Jean Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Qc H9H 2A7.

In lieu of flowers we would appreciate donations in his memory to the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence.

As long as the sun shines…

The wind blows…

The rain falls…

You will live on inside of me forever

For that is all my heart knows

Celebration of life

From the time we met when the Troyers were living in Kitchener, Michael was, is, and will always be one of my dearest friends. We instantly hit it off on the ski hill and were inseparable. When Lindsay and Michael returned to Beaconsfield, our friendship continued, and I would always drop in on them when visiting our daughter at Concordia. Our thoughts are with you Lindsay Cameron and Hillary and all of you who knew and loved Michael. May he live on in all of us.

Dear Lindsay, Cameron and Hilary, We are all so sad to hear this news. Michael was a big part of our experience at Lakeshore Ski Club. He was always encouraging and positive, with a ready smile and a joke. I remember him getting me out to ski after lunch on many occasions when I would have stayed inside and was always glad I got out. I know he was a top shelf Dad, husband and friend. I hope you can all draw on those memories to sustain you as you move forward without him. Sending many hugs from the Robertsons (Hunt)!

Dear Lindsay and family, this is such a shock and so very sad. I last saw Michael at your Mom’s celebration of life. He was cheerful and compassionate despite his health issue, as is so in his character. I can only imagine the deep void that you must feel as you search you soul for some kind of reason, which is not there. Hoping that the cherished memories that you will forever have will warm your heart eventually . Sending you heartfelt energy and comfort. Dale

One of a kind. What more can be said? Mike was the ultimate loving father, friend, partner and colleague. Personal memories extend to working together at Eaton’s (seems so long ago) well as Grey Cups and the awesome Christmas cocktails chez Lindsay & Mike. We are so privileged to have had Mike as part of our personal life experience and although we are saddened we are also privileged to have known Mike. God bless and to Lindsay, Hilary and Cameron please have some comfort in knowing that your husband and father was loved, respect and admired by many. We share your sadness and he will be missed but the memories will live on.

To Lindsay, Cameron and Hilary, I’m so sorry for your loss. Michael was always a happy smiling guy and left an impression on many hearts. As childhood friends, growing up so close by to each other, I’ll cherish those memories of running the streets of our neighbourhood late into the summer nights playing hide and seek with all the kids of the area. To Mrs. Troyer, Anne, Paul and Lise, my heartfelt condolences go out to you and your families. May your many cherished memories pull you through this difficult time. Michael had a presence that was larger than life. He may not be here in the physical sense but his presence will never be extinguished. I have no doubt that whoever had the great pleasure in meeting Michael he had left them an invaluable impression. Grief does not end, but it changes. It is a passage, not a place to stay. It is not a sign of weakness, nor lack of faith. It is the price of love. Condolences indeed but rejoice in knowing that Michael continues to live a full life through you all.
