1935-2023
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rebecca (Becky) Turmaine, who peacefully departed this world on Monday, October 16, 2023, at the age of 88. She was surrounded by the loving and caring staff of the Foyer Dorval, where she received exceptional care for the last 5 years.
Rebecca, affectionately known as Becky, possessed an infectious sense of humour and an incredible memory. She had a remarkable ability to find humour in the most unexpected places, often poking fun at herself. She was a passionate music lover, frequently attending concerts featuring some of the great artists from the 50s and 60s in her younger years. Becky’s enthusiasm for genealogy made her the guardian of the Turmaine family history, and she took delight in sharing stories about our lineage. To those who took the time to know her, she was a unique and cherished individual.
Becky was known for her strong-willed personality and unwavering determination. She was forthright and unapologetic about her preferences, even if others didn’t always want to hear them. Her resolute nature may have seemed like “her way or the highway” to some of those closest to her. Despite her firm convictions and her ongoing struggles with mental health issues, Becky remained a loving and caring presence, leaving an indelible mark on those who knew her.
Becky is survived by her brother, Anthony Turmaine, and his wife, Huguette Germain-Turmaine, who provided unwavering support throughout her life, ensuring that Becky had everything she needed and was well taken care of. She was an aunt to her nephew, Charles Turmaine, and his wife, Caroline Hares and great nephews Nicolas and Alexandre. She was also and aunt to her niece, Anne Turmaine, and her husband, Bryant Rodger and great nephew Noah and Great niece Emilly.
In memory of Becky, a memorial service will be held at Voluntas from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. where family and friends can gather to celebrate her life and share cherished memories. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Becky’s name.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the Foyer Dorval for their exceptional care and support during Becky’s final years and moments. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
Rest in peace, dear Becky. You are loved, remembered, and cherished always.
