It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Mathilda Wynacker Veldman on February 15th, 2024.

Widowed in 2021, she leaves behind her children Terance (Terry) with his wife Theresa, Wendy with her husband David, Jodie, and Peter with his wife Lori. Her adored grandchildren Judy (Travis), Kaitlin (Raffi), Alison (Colin), Misty (Michael), David (Emilee), Asheley and Kory (Ashley). Her loving great-grandchildren, Julianne, Caroline, Nathalie, Jaden, Shane, Owen, Logan, Leo, Jacub, Kayla, Kandice, Laura, Shyla, (the late Thalia), Ryan, Jenni, Jaxton with another great grandbaby soon arriving. Her precious great, great grandson, Kane.

Born August 17th, 1936 in Utrecht, The Netherlands to Gerarda and Victor (Judocus), Mathilda (Tilly) was middle child amongst her 7 siblings, Victor, Truus, Ria, Fien, Will and Yvonne.

Mathilda married Peter in June of 1957 and moved to Canada to start their biggest adventure. With many hurdles to overcome, she created a beautiful, loving home for their family. Mathilda had an infectious laugh, was often found knitting, enjoyed a good book and happily frolicked across the dance floor with her lifetime partner.

Mathilda was a big-hearted woman who made anyone in her presence feel at home. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her family both here and back in The Netherlands. Mathilda and Peter had a successful life together raising their children in Pierrefonds. They had the ability to enjoy retirement in the country in Renfrew, Ontario as well as in Florida with their beloved cat, Snow.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation at St. Luke Parish, 106A, Avenue Anselme Lavigne, Dollard des Ormeaux, Qc H9A 1N9 on Saturday, February 24th from 10 am to 11 am with the funeral mass to follow.
