It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kathleen Walshe Turcotte on June 16, 2021, after a brief but courageous battle. Her passing was peaceful, surrounded by her loving family. She was a beloved wife of Bob Turcotte, an outstanding Mother to children Robert, Julia (Ryan), and Laura (Justin) and a devoted and caring Gramma to Jackson. Predeceased by her father Edward John Walshe, she leaves to mourn her mother, Teresa Walshe and siblings Ted, Elaine and Bill, as well as a large extended family, countless friends, many colleagues and cherished students. She will be greatly missed.
She was an accomplished musician who taught piano, a Music Teacher for Lester B. Pearson School Board and she adored sharing her love of music with all. Shortly before her passing, Kathleen’s students at Springdale Elementary got together and organized a virtual performance for her; they sang the songs she loved and taught them to sing. Kathleen appreciated a great lunch or cheese plate paired with a nice glass of wine, especially if it was enjoyed in her lovely garden oasis because flowers made her happy. She was serious about her deck and worked hard to create a welcoming and warm space for everyone to enjoy, share a laugh and be together. She just felt at home in Old Orchard Beach, Maine, and created countless summer memories there with her family and friends. Kathleen was an exceptional light in our lives; we’ll listen for her in our favourite songs, look for her in the bright flowers along our paths and we remember her fondly in all things we do.
There are so many ways to honour and commemorate Kathleen’s beautiful light; spend time in nature, listen to a favourite song and sing all the words out loud, go on an adventure, call a friend, enjoy a beverage or take a moment to reflect on the wonderful people who have touched your life and your soul. Most importantly, love each other and get along.
Our family would like to thank the staff at the Lakeshore General Hospital, as well as the incredible nurses and support from NOVA West Island and CLSC, with a personal acknowledgement to Leslie, Carina and all the Oncology Team. We would also like to thank the staff of the Vaudreuil-Soulanges Palliative Care Residence, whose support made our family’s peace and presence possible.
The funeral service will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 23, 2021, at St-John Fisher Church, 120 Summerhill, Pointe-Claire, followed by the burial at Field of Honour in Pointe-Claire. Due to restrictions imposed by the health authorities, the service and burial will be held by invitation only. For those who are unable to attend, the service will be live streamed on the Saint John Fisher Parish website (www.sjfp.org). The livestream will begin at 12:00 p.m
In lieu of flowers, donations in Kathleen’s memory may be made to NOVA West Island or Lung Cancer Canada.

Kathleen’s life was cut short but she fought hard for herself and her family. I will always think of Kathleen when I hear Moonlight Sonata played on the piano. She played beautifully. June 21, 2021 at 8:23 pmTo our dearest friends. Gary and I are so saddened by the loss of Kathleen.
We’ve had so many great 5 a 7 on the dick (not a typo. Lol. That’s how Kathleen referred to the deck).
She had such a quirky sense of humour that was so i infectious.
Kathleen adored her family unto no end and would bend over backwards to ensure their happiness.
We’ve shared many talks, many secrets, many dinners as couples , and many just girls luncheons.
She was talented beyond belief and would step out of the box for her students. She was just so dedicated to them.
Her love had no boundaries. She cared for all of us.
I thank her for our friendship and I am confident that she’s watching us all with much love.
God bless, and keep you safe my dearest friend, and God bless the Walshe – Turcotte families.
Your in our hearts.

June 28, 2021 at 7:36 amMy sincere condolences to Kathleen’s family… A beautiful soul was taken away too soon from us. Kathleen was a cherished colleague and friend who’s music echoed in the halls of Purcell, long after she left our school. Kathleen had a great sense of humour with adults and kids alike. She was so easy to talk with and a good time was had by all in her presence.
“Music speaks what cannot be expressed, soothes the mind and gives it rest, heals the heart and makes it whole, flows from heaven to the soul.”
Kathleen, your presence, love and kindness will forever be with us. Rest in Peace my friend

June 30, 2021 at 4:49 pmMy condolences to the entire Turcotte family. Kathleen was a remarkable music teacher. I will never forget her fantastic musical productions especially “December Nights, December Lights” as well as her help with any activity involving the Free the Children Organization at St. Anthony School. She united staff, students, and parents with her shows. Her productions were so professional and the children shined under her guidance. She will be missed by so many. One of the posts on her FB page was “Sing You Home”. I have listened to it repeatedly lately. “Too soon to leave this earth, How could all your work be done, Ash to ash and dust to dust, Seemed to me you just begun… Know that you will live, On the lips of those who knew, what it was you had to give, And what it was they learned from you.” Kathleen, we “sing you home”.

July 12, 2021 at 3:22 pmWe were very sad to hear of Kathleen’s passing. Please accept our deepest condolences. We first got to know Kathleen when she came to our home to give our two daughters their piano lessons. She was an excellent teacher–passionate about the music and very committed to her students. Over the years I always enjoyed chatting with Kathleen when our paths would cross on the West Island–often at Chapters. She was a very kind, intelligent, and positive person. Our prayers are with Kathleen’s family at this very difficult time–we are so sorry for your loss.
