It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Maria Basanese. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother whose, strength, and gentle spirit guided her family throughout her life.
Maria is survived by her daughters, Stephanie (Jeffrey) and Melanie (Matthew), her daughter-in-law Eva, and her beloved granddaughter Phoenix, who was a bright light in her life and brought her endless joy.
She will now be reunited in heaven with her sons, Marc and Justin, where they are together once more in God’s loving embrace.
Maria will be remembered for her unconditional love, her compassion for her family, and her sassy attitude. Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing she has found peace and that her spirit will live on in their hearts forever.
A memorial gathering will be held at Voluntas Funeral Home located at 4695, boul. St-Jean, Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Qc H9H 2A7 on February 8th, 2026 from 12:00pm – 3:00pm followed by a celebration of her life at 3:00pm.

February 2, 2026 at 9:27 pmI will always remember her as my aunt that had that fire within her and when I was young thought she was such a cool aunt. She would spend hours on my grandparents back porch drawing these beautiful horses. She had more artistic talent than anyone I knew while I was growing up. She was like an older sister as I spent lots of time with her when I was young. I will always have wonderful memories of her and her kind spirit. Rest in peace. I will always remember you ❤️
