After celebrating Christmas Eve surrounded by loving family, Glenn Edward Cuggy passed away on December 25, 2025, at the age of 79.
Beloved husband of Lisa DeSimone Cuggy, father to Jeff (Donna), Tara (Sébastien), and grandfather to Shannen, Emma, Maëva, Zak and Adam. Brother to Brian (Maureen), Gail (Grant), Judy (Richard), Jeff, Susan (Berel), Bob (Cathy), Kevin, Chris (Jill), Catherine and in-law to Livio (Lise), Linda (Hal), Lidia (Gordon).
Born in Montreal on July 20, 1946, Glenn attended Pius X High School, St. Joseph’s Teachers College and continued on to earn a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from McGill University. He became a teacher, educational consultant, business owner, then high school principal until his retirement in 2011. Glenn also served as city councillor for Dollard-des-Ormeaux and was active in the Westminster Park community.
Glenn loved travelling with his loving wife, enjoyed quiet time at Lac Connelly, fishing, golf with his buddies, trips with the Nelsons, gatherings with the Wedding Anniversary Gang and the Annual Fishing Trip with the guys.
Glenn was a gifted raconteur with an irreverent sense of humour and incisive vision. Famously Grumpy and deeply wise, he was a mentor, inspiration, coach and confidant for many, over the years. He was a devoted family man who could always be counted on to help someone in need.
His presence will be deeply missed.
Visitation will take place on Friday, January 9, 2026, from 4 to 8 p.m., with a funeral service on Saturday, January 10th at 11 a.m., at Voluntas Funeral Home, 4695 St-Jean, Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Qc H9H 2A7. A reception will follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice will be greatly appreciated.

Although we did not stay in contact I have youthful memories and remember him fondly. His were the first kids I was trusted to babysit and that made an impact to this day. Transition well Glenn

He was a wonderful mentor and I appreciate the encouragement and gave me throughout my career at the Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board. A lasting memory I have of Glenn stems from a shopping trip from way back in the 1980s. Mom and Dad wanted to buy new shoes for their grand-daughter and, for some unknown reason, I found myself along for the ride. Where were we headed? To their dear nephew’s store, of course! Years later, what stands out from that day is the respect and kindness Glenn gave to his Auntie Shirley and Uncle Clifford and to the patient ear he provided to my niece. Simple things, really, but they speak volumes to the content of his character.
Mom and Dad were proud of him.
As am I.

January 13, 2026 at 5:24 pmI may have moved far, far away, but one thing I always loved was coming back to visit my childhood home and stopping off at Mr. Cuggy’s house to say hello. He always made me smile and I hope my sporadic and always surprising visits gave him the same joy as it did for me. I have fond, distant memories of going to his shoe store as a child, seeing his larger than life personality at Westminster pool, and visiting the more reserved garage-dwelling smoker later in life.
