Peter Morris, affectionately known as “Pedro” to his family and friends, passed away unexpectedly on May 2, 2025, at the young age of 79. Until the end, he was full of life, with so much more he hoped to do. Born on January 9, 1946, in Montreal, Quebec, he lived most of his life in the West Island of Montreal, where he built a business, a home and a life filled with love, laughter, dedication, and unforgettable memories.
Peter is survived by his beloved wife, best friend and business partner of 53 years, Judy Davidson Morris; his son Brock Morris (Joanne Pech); his daughter Donna Morris (Michel Carrier); his four cherished grandchildren: Tristan Carrier, Téa Carrier, Ryan Morris, and Arielle Carrier; and his brother Thomas Jack Morris (Gwen Etwell Morris).
Over the years, Peter wore many hats — entrepreneur, maintenance man, gardener — always ready to take on whatever task came his way. But the career that brought him the greatest pride was that of a teacher. For 35 years, he was a dedicated educator at John Rennie High School, where he thrived among curious, playful minds. He brought energy, humour, and heart to the classroom, sparking curiosity and encouraging students to think in new and different ways. His impact on generations of students, colleagues, and business partners was both profound and lasting.
A lifelong learner, Peter delighted in reading about history, science, and philosophy — often with his pipe filled with Erinmore in hand. He was always eager to deepen his understanding and share the insights he discovered. He also found joy in gardening, playing golf, exercising, travelling the world (especially to the Dominican Republic) with Judy, savouring a good martini, and, most of all, spending meaningful time with his family.
Brilliantly intelligent, endlessly kind, and mischievous in the best endearing way, Peter never had a bad word to say about anyone. His quiet wisdom, generous heart and gentle presence left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
He will be remembered for his warmth, wit, and unwavering loyalty — a man whose kind heart and spirited sense of humour gently touched any room. His legacy lives on in the hearts of the blessed family he so deeply loved, nurtured and held close throughout his life.
There will be no funeral service, as per his wishes. Instead, we invite you to raise a glass in his honour — to his beautiful, irrepressible soul, his enduring spirit, and the love and joy he shared. In his memory, may we continue to live with kindness, generosity, and have the courage to be a light and a leader in the world.

We are so grateful for all the moments we’ve shared with Peter, Judy and family and have so many cherished memories of time together in the DR, at the country cottage in Glengarry and their home. Dinners, drinks, family gatherings and holiday time together was always full of great conversation and laughter. Our deepest sympathy is extended to all the family during this difficult time of loss. May 9, 2025 at 9:38 amWords cannot express my deep and profound loss. Despite a drift in contact in the recent past, I have been very lucky to have been a part of Peter and Judy’s life. We first met at a CUSO meeting where we were all enquiring about teaching opportunities in a foreign country, particularly the Caribbean. Pete and Judy were selected and worked in Jamaica for a few years. We began our friendship when they returned to Canada and he was teaching at JR. He was always willing to participate in whatever ‘scheme, non sense or mischief I would dream of e.g. selling Lindsay Place High School, pretending to be police officers and arresting a teacher in front of his students. Some of the escapades live on in legend. His skill as a golfer is the stuff of legend. He often tred where few dared to go.
He loved the challenge of a new real estate deal and he was often the winner.
He loved teaching regardless as to the challenges presented. He especially enjoyed coaching soccer.
Pete committed his entire being to whatever he was involved.
He loved Judy beyond words she was his ‘rock’ as he said to me many times. He loved Donna and Brock beyond words.
The trips to the ‘cottage’ are legendary, the ‘garden’ the pool, the ever lengthening deck, the ‘golf games’, the BBQ.
I shall always hold dear my friend and the interesting, engaging and wickedly fun times we had.

May 9, 2025 at 9:49 amThe unexpected loss of my brother at age 79 has been an emotional tragedy. I think about Peter all of the time. We enjoyed many good times together than remain in my memory. I mostly grieve for the loved ones he left behind, Judy, Brock and Donna. I plan to capture his life in a book once I am able to focus my mind on the writing. Peter will be missed by Gwen as much as I miss him, he was the brother she never had.

I truly have him to thank for my passion to always keep learning about events and people in the past and to engage in lively discussion whenever possible. It was evident when we would encounter them on our evening walks, as they shared a love for that too. We would chat for a few minutes and then off they would go. Glenn loved his chats with Peter about real estate, and loved shoulder watching his poker game moves. Truly a sweet loving man who would do anything for you. When someone leaves a beautiful footprint for all to remember it’s truly to be cherished.

He taught me the Gr 8 science curriculum and helped me through my first years. I will miss him and his family and always remember the bull sessions at the Hymus and the fun we all had.
