April 24, 2024

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father and friend, Yvon Valade. He lost his final battle with congestive heart failure on April 24, 2024. He was 89 years old. Left to mourn this wonderful man are his children: JoAnn (Guy), Lynn, (Mike), Jean-Charles (Mary Ann) and Louis-Philippe. He is pre-deceased by his loving spouse and soul mate, Pauline. He died on what would have been their 59th wedding anniversary.

To know Yvon was to love him. His playful spirit and ever-curious nature were surpassed only by his generosity and a unique sense of humour. Among his many accomplishments, Yvon built two three-season cottages with his own hands that will last the test of time due to his skillful workmanship. He and Pauline spent many years enjoying those beautiful cottages on the banks of Lake Champlain in Vermont.

Yvon did not desire a mass or funeral service; only that his ashes be scattered with those of Pauline’s at a favourite fishing camp that they frequented many years ago. Our family has innumerable memories of good times spent with family and friends at that secluded lake in the Quebec wilderness. Yvon and Pauline loved to fish there and called it their little paradise on Earth. So Yvon’s ‘voluntas’ shall be granted, and this peaceful location shall indeed be their final resting place.

Many thanks must be extended to Yvon’s doctors (especially Dr. Laurie Breger), as well as the staff at the Lakeshore General for their remarkable service over the years.

And finally, thanks to the good people at Voluntas for the kindness they extended to Yvon when he sought their services for Pauline (and himself), and for their valued expertise and sympathy towards Yvon’s grieved family upon his death.
