It is with profound sadness that the family of Leonard Dellar announce his passing at Ste. Anne’s Hospital on June 2nd, 2024. Len was born in Pointe Claire, Quebec and was predeceased by his wife, Barbara (nee Cooke), parents Annie Rafferty and Charles Dellar, his many siblings, his son Michael (Claire Montillet), and his daughter Teresa (Gavin Fernandes).
He will be forever missed by his son Howard (Dianne Cachia), daughters Lois (James Milvain), and Mary (Sean McAleer), and grandchildren, Conor, Jonathan, Nicholas, Liam, Sarah, and by his nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, great grandnephews, and great grandnieces.
During WWII, Len obtained the rank of Sergeant as a Wireless Air Gunner, R.C.A.F. He became the only surviving male sibling left to comfort his sisters when his older brothers made the ultimate sacrifice.
During his thirty-five years at Hydro-Quebec and throughout his retirement, Len was a dedicated volunteer, coaching his sons in baseball and hockey, and fixing anything that needed fixing at Holy Name of Jesus Parish, a neighbour’s home, or the West Island Palliative Care Residence (now Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence).
An excellent golfer, Len was a long-time member of Hawkesbury Golf Club, winning the Club Championship and racking up 3 hole in ones. When not on the course, Len could be found in his workshop repairing something for family or friends with his beloved country music or EXPOS game on the radio in the background.
Always one to welcome anyone into his humble home, please plug the kettle in and invite a friend over for tea or an “O’Keefe” in Len’s memory.
The family invites you to a funeral mass on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 11a.m., and condolences from 10a.m. – 11a.m. at St. Veronica’s Parish, Dorval Quebec. A private interment at Lakeview Memorial Gardens will take place later in the summer.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence are appreciated.
