It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marlene Marsden “Neeny” on the evening of November 15, 2025, surrounded by her brothers and cherished friend after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Predeceased by her beloved parents, Charlie and Marcelle, and her husband, Lorne. She will be deeply missed by her loving brothers William and Gary (Jennifer); her nieces Kelly (Mars), Tanya (Daniel), Sarah (Marie-Ange), Alexa (Peter), and Taylor (Eric); her nephew Glen; her grandnieces & grandnephews. Marlene cherished and supported her family through every season of life, offering a steady, selfless love that will be remembered always.

Marlene had a deep love for gardening, finding joy in sharing this passion with her nieces. Her cooking filled homes with warmth and comfort, creating gatherings that brought people together in laughter and love. Her famous ham and “Neeny jam” (raspberry jam) will forever bring back memories of her. Animals held a special place in her heart, and her gentle, compassionate nature shone through in the way she cared for them. She will be missed by her beloved cat Daisy.

Marlene also had a lifelong passion for car racing—working as a flagger in her younger years, a role that sparked her most treasured and enduring friendships. Susan, Claire and Ken, whom she met at the racetracks, were by her side through every step, offering love, compassion, and comfort in her final years. Marlene considered their families to be her own and loved them all dearly. Her neighbour Diane also held a special place in her heart, always thoughtful and supportive in her times of need. Beyond what words can express, her family will be forever grateful to Marlene’s extraordinary friends.

She will be remembered for her strength, having battled cancer for many years, yet always remaining thankful for the time she shared with her friends and family. Though she is no longer with us, the beauty she brought into the world will continue to live on in all those she loved.

Her family extends heartfelt thanks to the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care team for their exceptional care in her final days.

May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love she gave so generously.
