Mrs. Germaine Nash (nee deSilva), aged 89, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2025 at the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence in the presence of her four children. She was born on July 30, 1936 in Calcutta, India, daughter of George deSilva and Freyda Timms.

Germaine was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Ralph Nash. Together they had 4 children, Carol Anne (Ray O’Farrell), Sheryl (Ugo Notargiacomo), Kimberly (Diego Vega) and Michael. They are also survived by grandchildren Devon (Ryan Jones), Kylie (Andrew Kerwin), Teo and Kess as well as great grandchildren, Norah, Owen, Thomas and Claire.

Germaine arrived in Canada as an independent, young adult and quickly found work as a secretary with Air Canada. It was here where she met and fell in love with her husband Ralph and her life began anew. They eventually settled in Pointe Claire where Germaine became an active member of the community. She was particularly involved with St. John Fisher church, singing in the choir for many years and participating in the church social events with their friends in the neighbourhood . Germaine devoted most of her time and effort in raising her four children and tending to their home. She enjoyed encouraging her children and her grandchildren in their various pursuits and was very proud of all they achieved. The birth of her great grandchildren provided ongoing joy for her as she took delight in their births and in accounts of their development. She enjoyed being the matriarch of this large, boisterous family and will be dearly missed by them and by her extended family in England and in Toronto.

Germaine spent the last four years living at the Chateau Royal in D.D.O. The residence provided much needed practical and social support for her in the absence of her husband. They proved to be a blessing for our mother and succeeded in meeting her increased needs as she aged.
We would like to give our heartfelt thanks to the staff at the residence as well as to the nursing teams at Sacré Coeur and Lakeshore hospitals. And lastly, we would like to extend our deep gratitude to the Teresa Dellar palliative centre for their exceptional compassion and care of our mother. Germaine was able to find peace and comfort here as she took the next step in her journey.

The funeral service will take place on October 11, 2025 at the Voluntas Funeral Home in D.D.O. and will be led by Father Sibichan. Visitation will take place from 10:00-11:00 am, followed by the service at 11:00am. A reception will be held afterwards for our honoured guests, after which the family will accompany Germaine to the Lakeview Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest with her husband, Ralph.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate if any donations could be made to the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence Residence.
